Recalibrate Series – Being a Doer of the Word

Yesterday, Pastor Jason delivered a thought-provoking message as part of our Recalibrate series, titled "Being a Doer of the Word." His challenge to us was clear: don’t just hear God’s Word—live it! It’s about aligning our hearts and actions with the truth of Scripture, allowing it to transform every part of our lives.

A Call to Listen: 1 Samuel 3:1-10

We explored the powerful story of young Samuel, who responded to God’s call with the words:

“Speak, your servant is listening.”

This passage reminds us to approach God with humility and readiness. Samuel’s willingness to hear and obey serves as a model for us. Amid the busyness and noise of life, are we quieting our hearts to truly listen for God’s voice?

Scriptures to Guide Us

Pastor Jason shared several verses to encourage and equip us in our walk with God:

  • 2 Timothy 3:16
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”
God’s Word isn’t just meant to be read—it’s designed to shape us, teach us, and equip us for the good works He’s prepared for us. Are we allowing Scripture to transform our daily lives?
  • Isaiah 55:8-9
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.
When life feels confusing or overwhelming, we can trust that God’s plan is higher, greater, and far better than anything we can imagine.
  • Psalm 119:105
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
God’s Word provides guidance, one step at a time, even in seasons of uncertainty.
  • James 4:10
“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.”
Humility is the key to hearing and responding to God. When we lower ourselves, we make room for Him to lift us up.
  • Jeremiah 29:11-13
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord.
God’s plans are good, and when we seek Him with our whole heart, we align ourselves with His incredible purpose for our lives.

The Challenge: Be Doers of the Word

Pastor Jason encouraged us to recalibrate our hearts by moving beyond hearing to doing. It’s not enough to know what God says—we need to take action, trust His promises, and step out in faith.

Let’s Take Action Together

This week, let’s commit to:

  • Listening for God’s voice.
  • Trusting His promises.
  • Obeying His call with humility and courage.

How did God speak to you through the message? Share your thoughts in the comments—we’d love to hear how you’re stepping into action this week.
